WHAT WE DO

WHAT WE DO

Moqah Foundation (MF) does not build schools or vocational facilities, they invests in human capacity. By paying teachers and trainers a fair wage, providing teacher training, operational support, and renting inexpensive existing buildings, MF can focus on reducing illiteracy, and providing experiential learning opportunities in multidisciplinary subjects that foster critical thinking and empowerment. All programs are run with dedicated and qualified local staff.

MF currently has two Schools in the Punjab and only operates in communities in which they are invited with acceptance of local elders. In the primary schools boys are not allowed to enroll unless their sisters are enrolled first. Vocational training is conducted with women who have the support of their fathers, brothers, and/or husbands to ensure buy-in and local support. MF works with several local partners and relies on the support of individuals and organizations in the communities where they work.

Many women in Pakistan possess marketable skills, however, isolation and lack of market access present challenges to enterprise development. Under the direction of our partner MDF and its for-profit affiliate, Peace of the Action, women are connected with higher-end markets for a constant flow of work with higher profit margins. POTA directs a portion of proceeds to MF to support ongoing education. This sustainable business model allows for ongoing training necessary to lift communities out of poverty.
